I was excited to receive my fifth and sixth college acceptance letters from Utica College and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Looking forward to having some great choices and a difficult decision to make.
Allegiance – is a musical with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo and a book by Marc Acito, Kuo and Lorenzo Thione. The story, set during the Japanese American internment of World War II (with a framing story set in the present day), was inspired by the personal experiences of George Takei, who stars in the musical. It follows the Kimura family in the years following the attack on Pearl Harbor, as they are forced to leave their farm in Salinas, California and are sent to the Heart Mountain internment camp in the rural plains of Wyoming.
Today I visited Siena College for an accepted student day. I attended this by myself, since mom and dad had to work. There was a light breakfast and some remarks from admissions people and a student panel. I went on yet another tour, and the tour guide Jay was really great. I met a girl from Syracuse named Rachel on the tour and we had a good time getting to know each other. I went to a psychology class Sensation and Perception and I really had no idea what they were studying (I think it was a higher level class). There was a lunch with mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and other good food.
I enjoyed the tour with the guide – she talked about her experiences at college and answered a lot of questions. Siena is a great school, but not the right place for me.
The Drama club donated an “unknown at this time” pounds of canned goods and dry goods to the Northeast Regional Food Bank. Once again I met Kathy who is a a Shen graduate and administrative assistant at the bank. The food will help families for the Christmas holidays and into the new year. I will pass on this tradition to a younger member of the Drama Club and hopefully it will continue for many years to come.
