I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy – I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.”

Helping those who can not help themselves
I have pursued many volunteering opportunities within my local community. I am especially fond of animals, and enjoy helping my local animal shelters. I have not been able to volunteer directly at the shelters, but there are many other ways I can help the dogs and cats. I have collected money that is donated by people in the community and have spearheaded a pet food drive during my schools musical production this spring. I also have an ongoing bottle drive, the proceeds of which go directly to the SPCA of Upstate New York, a shelter that is special to us since it is where my dogs Rex and Jinx came from.
Helping in my local community
I have found that volunteering in many different areas is a great way to meet people and be a part of the community. My mom is a runner, and I have volunteered at some local road races that she has run, and we have also volunteered together as a family. I also organized a food drive for our local food bank, and am involved with my library, volunteering for children’s events and fund raising activities like a bake sale. I have managed the sound system for my schools global expo “Shensational”, a multi cultural event held yearly.
